Sorting my friends.

Yesterday, FriendFeed launched a beta of it’s new design. One of the main features of the new design is the ability to create friend lists:

Friend lists enable you to organize your friends into groups. With friend lists, you can get updates from your family separately from your coworkers, or you can add an acquaintance to a list and remove them from your home feed.

I found this new design really interesting, mainly, because it forced me to try and sort my friendfeed friends into groups. Looking at my global friends list, I noticed that I have three discrete categories of friends.

- Actual friends that I see in person.
- People who I’ve never met in person, but whom I follow online on places besides for friendfeed. (i.e. Robert Scoble, Jason Calacanis, etc…)
- And people who I’ve never met in person, but whom I follow online only on friendfeed. (mostly news.yc users whom I added)

Realizing that, I came up with three lists for my friends:

How do you guys sort between the various different type of friends you have?
